Top Five "Can’t Live Without" Podcasts

October 30, 2007

These are my all time fav podcasts, what I listen too as soon as then download to my iPod.

5. Windows Weekly — This is part of the TWIT network and is hosted by Leo Laporte. But Paul Thurrott makes it all worthwhile, I have been a big fan of the Supersite for Windows for a long time. I think Paul really gets Microsoft, he sees their flaws, but realizes that in many cases they are turning out the best software and hardware out there. Highly recommended. Even if you are not a huge Leo fan.

4. This American Life - Best radio show ever, and now in podcast form. I love every episode, but sometimes it is hard to make myself listen, because the stories are so deep and heavy. There are stories that I heard years ago that are still with me. Don’t miss out. Subscribe today.

3. PC Gamer Podcast - I have subscribed to PC Gamer since college. But since I have gotten to know the writers through the podcasts, I get some much more enjoyment out of each issue, . They are all now so comfortable on "air" that the show is like butter, they just seem like a great bunch of people, and their passion of games is infectious. Every episode is a classic. And then there is Catfantastic (and now Catfantastic II), where Logan Decker–the shows most hilarious host–just goes wild with his PC game trivia "game show."

2. ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos - ABC’s great Sunday morning public affairs program. I really, really appreciate that they give this show away, I was never able to catch it on TV or even Tivo. I’ve been a fan of George since he worked for Bill Clinton on the ‘92 campaign.

1. Meet the Press with Tim Russert - Except for perhaps Charlie Rose, Tim Russert is the best interviewer in the business today. He has a great style, command of the facts, and comes off as humble and personable, but willing to ask the tough questions. I used to make time to watch this live on TV, but now with podcasts, I can catch it during lunch on Monday or on my drive home. If you care about politics, or where this county is headed, that you owe it to yourself to check this out.

The one big whole is a movie podcasts, I have tried several, but nothing I have to listen to each week. If you know any good ones, post it in the comments!
